IAP Weld booths for schools case study

During the welding process, fumes and toxic gases are produced. These air contaminants are so small that we cannot see them. However, they can easily be inhaled and become trapped in the lungs, targeting other parts of the body. For this reason, it is important to capture weld fumes/particulates at the source. This can be done using a welding fume extraction system. The weld fumes/air contaminants must be captured and then filtered/exhausted appropriately.

Welding classes at High Schools and Trade Schools have multiple students in a class, all welding at the same time. Therefore, significant amounts of weld fumes can be produced and contaminate the training facility. It is therefore crucial that these facilities provide adequate welding fume extraction/source capture.

A great solution to this is individual fume extraction welding booths. These booths are designed especially for high schools with welding programs, trade schools or technical colleges, and smaller facilities needing a welding solution for their weld fume, smoke, and pollution control. The IAP Air Products booth provide the following key features;

  • Individual or grouped booths – the different booth sizes and configurations allow maximum use of your space. Typical sizes are 4’x4’, 5’x5’, 6’x6’ or 8’x8’. Other sizes are available upon request. Contact us and we can help work with you on your layout.
  • Ability to share side panels – cost efficient designs minimizing material costs by sharing panels.
  • Sturdy 14 gage steel panel construction, powder coated – high quality construction, designed for rigorous use in academic settings.
  • Walk in booth with curtain rod and weld curtain – great for teacher/student interaction.  The curtain allows the instructors to be able to safely view the student’s activity without interrupting them.
  • Built in back shelf for tool storage – keeps booth clean and tidy.
  • Packaging and shipping expertise – we have a wealth of shipping knowledge, so we can help protect your project and get it delivered on time to the school/educational facility.

A recent project was for a High School in South Dakota. Multiple booths were ordered for their weld shop. This is what they said about their experience working with IAP AirProducts;

“I worked with IAP when our school district built a new welding laboratory in 2023.  The welding booths and hanging fume arms are quality pieces of equipment that will last for years to come.  Our new welding lab is state of the art and the IAP products give it a very professional look.  Many people who see it for the first time walk in and say "WOW"!  They are amazed at the transformation from our old space to the new lab and the IAP products are a big part of that change.  In addition to the appearance, the IAP products have also created a much safer work area for my students.  The hanging fume arms are excellent at pulling exhaust gases out of the welding lab.  I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is looking to update or add welding equipment.”
